Goodreads summary:
Sixteen years ago the Kingdom of Winter was conquered and its citizens enslaved, leaving them without magic or a monarch. Now, the Winterians’ only hope for freedom is the eight survivors who managed to escape, and who have been waiting for the opportunity to steal back Winter’s magic and rebuild the kingdom ever since.

Orphaned as an infant during Winter’s defeat, Meira has lived her whole life as a refugee, raised by the Winterians’ general, Sir. Training to be a warrior—and desperately in love with her best friend, and future king, Mather — she would do anything to help her kingdom rise to power again.

So when scouts discover the location of the ancient locket that can restore Winter’s magic, Meira decides to go after it herself. Finally, she’s scaling towers, fighting enemy soldiers, and serving her kingdom just as she’s always dreamed she would. But the mission doesn’t go as planned, and Meira soon finds herself thrust into a world of evil magic and dangerous politics – and ultimately comes to realize that her destiny is not, never has been, her own.

Review:
"Someday we will be more than words in the dark."

Snow like Ashes had high expectations for me, but it didn't really live up to them. A lot of people that i follow on Booktube or on Goodreads had read it and loved it, so i though it would be amazing.. but sadly it was just oke.
The book start with Meira in a camp toghether with the Prince and a couple more people, 5 or 6 to be exact. That is all that is left of Winter, they have flet and survived the invasion of Spring. Now they have to find the medallion parts to get power back to Winter.

The characters were soso, they weren't all that special and you didn't get to know them all that well. Sometimes i didn't get to sudden change in friendships or personallity. But i like the friendship that Meira and Mather had/have togheter, also the relathionship with the general aka 'Sir'. It was almost like she had a father in him, she also thinks that for a while. But that is apart of the bigger plot twist in the book, which i saw coming from the beginning..

As for the plot, i liked the idea of the different seasons as kingdoms and the magic that was a part of the story. I had some trowback feelings of 'Throne of Glass' some times, when they are in the Camp togheter and the discovery that is going to change the whole story from that point on forward. Also i had a little bit of 'Selection' fibes, when Meira and her friends are in on of the other Kingdoms to seek help. The end of the book made the story better than were it began. It has alot of potential the become a good series, but that is all the find out later on. Im excited to get my hands on the next book and see for myself if the story is worth my time.
