Goodreads Summary:
Harry Potter thinks he is an ordinary boy. He lives with his Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia and cousin Dudley, who are mean to him and make him sleep in a cupboard under the stairs. (Dudley, however, has two bedrooms, one to sleep in and one for all his toys and games.) Then Harry starts receiving mysterious letters and his life is changed forever. He is whisked away by a beetle-eyed giant of a man and enrolled at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The reason: Harry Potter is a wizard! The first book in the "Harry Potter" series makes the perfect introduction to the world of Hogwarts.

Review:
Plot: 5/5

Writing: 5/5

This is the first J.K. Rowling book that i have ever read. I was always a big, and I mean BIG fan of the movies adoptations, I could watch those movies for days to come! But then there were the books. THE originals! I Always wanted to read the books, but i never picked up a English copie until my birthday last December.. My brother had the Dutch versions, but i wanted to read the books in English, because i cant stand the ways that books sometimes are translated to a different language.

I really enjoyed this book! I regret not picking it up sooner, but like I said i wanted to read the original translation. Eventhough it is a childerns book it was really enjoyible. It was a fast read and it wasn't a long book at all. For a childerns book its long, but for YA (Young Adult) or any other reader its a fast past book/read.

J.K. Rowling has a writingstyle that takes you with her in the adventiour of our hero Harry. Mayby its because its originally written for childern, but you automaticly like the heroes and hate the villans. Also Harry is so sassy, so different from the movie.

The characters in this book are amazing. As I said, Harry is so sassy, Ron is just so naive and also a little bit of a bully which i dont very appriciate, and Hermoine is just such a cute know-it-all. Neville is also a really big part of this book. He lost his parents just like Harry did, but Neville grew up with his grandmother nd Harry had to go to his aunt en uncle in the 'muggle world'. Harry and his friends dont really pay attention to him or any other member of Griffindor and are getting themselfs always into trouble.

There where many moments that this book made me smile or even giggle. The jokes, the sassy attitude of Harry and all the other things that these childern got themself into. Also the accent of Hagrid was really funny. J.K. Rowling had his accent written for you, so you would read it like Hagrid would say it. Sometimes it was al little difficult to read but it made the book so much more enjoyble.

After this book my hunger for the other books has grown even more and I cant wait to get my hands on them. My love for the characters has always been big, but as this story will progress i think that love will grow even bigger and it will be even harder to say goodbye to them when to story comes to and end. But luckely i have 6 more books to go, so that goodbye would be in the near future.

All-in-all, I really enjoyed this book and cant wait to get my hands on the next one very soon. 5 Stars!

Love, Hedi
